STC Searches For The Real Field of Dreams

The Synthetic Turf Council is now accepting submissions for its fifth annual Search for the Real Field of Dreams, which recognizes the power that synthetic turf has to transform communities and schools, and keep youth active, healthy and fit. The national contest is open to schools (K-12 and college), parks, businesses and public spaces in the United States and Canada that have compelling stories about the impact of their synthetic turf field or installation. Submissions are due by September 1, 2013 and will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges. The grand prize is $1,000, and all winners receive publicity and a modest cash award. Tell Your Turface Story And Win Big

As part of its 50th anniversary celebration in 2013, Turface Athletics “My Turface Story” is giving those who have maintained their fields with the conditioner a reason to celebrate, too. The contest asks field managers, coaches, or volunteers to share the ways in which Turface products have improved their sports fields, saved a game from a rainout, helped them solve problems or made their jobs easier. Each entrant will receive a free Turface Athletics windbreaker jacket just for entering, and one submission will be selected at random to win a grand prize package of four tons of Turface product and $500 to purchase field maintenance supplies. Visit to fill out the entry form.

Propane Council Extends Incentive Program

Washington —The Propane Education & Research Council (PERC) recently extended its Propane Mower Incentive Program through 2013, giving landscape contractors another full year to apply for more than $1 million in incentives toward the purchase of new propane-fueled commercial mowers or propane mower conversion kits.

Applicants accepted into the program can receive either $1,000 toward each newly purchased propane-fueled commercial mower or $500 toward qualified mowers converted to run on propane. The incentive can be applied toward up to 25 mowers per applicant, including both new and qualified conversion propane mowers. Program participants must report to PERC on the equipment’s performance and usage for one mowing season.

—————————————————————————Floating Maintenance Feasible For Aquatics?

There is some talk about perhaps changing the mode of [aquatic] operations where there would be a floating maintenance team that we would turn to; this team would have multiple facilities in the city to oversee. Do you have any thoughts on the subject?
