Round Rock Frontier Days

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS – A July 4th parade, jalapeno pepper eating contest sponsored by Randalls, Sam Bass Shootout, carnival rides, duck races, skydivers and fireworks sponsored by HEB are all part of the City of Round Rock’s July 4th  Frontier Days Celebration and Parade (Please see entire schedule of events and times below). Along with help from Round Rock Sertoma Club, who are spearheading the parade, the City of Round Rock and Frontier Days Team have scheduled a day of fun for the entire family.

Kicking off the Frontier Days Celebration is the annual Sertoma 4th of July Parade through downtown Round Rock. The parade will begin at 10:00 am and includes live commentary by FOX 7 News Sports Director Denis de la Pena. The parade will feature community groups, local businesses, City Council Members, Round Rock Police and Fire Departments and more. This year, we are very excited to welcome more than 150 soldiers from Fort Hood and their families into Round Rock as they join our parade and other festivities and we thank them for all that they do. The parade will start at the corner of North Brown Street and Round Rock Ave. (next to Reid’s Cleaners) and will proceed through Historic Downtown Round Rock.

After the parade, guests are invited to Old Settlers Park, 3300 E. Palm Valley Blvd., for the Frontier Days Celebration beginning at 12:00 noon to enjoy vendor booths, a pepper eating contest, skydivers, duck races, Carnival rides culinary delights and reenactments of the historic Sam Bass Shootout. The festivities will also include a petting zoo and pony rides. Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw will skydive into the festival and surprise festival goers.

The Sam Bass Shootout is a live, historical reenactment of the infamous story of Sam Bass and his gang, Deputy Sheriff A.W. Grimes and Deputy Sheriff Morris Moore. The live show tells the story of the “Sam Bass Gang” arriving in Round Rock with intentions to rob the bank and the resulting confrontation between Sam Bass and Sheriff A.W. Grimes. This presentation includes live horses, live ammunition (blanks), and stunts performed by trained actors and stuntmen.

Independence Day celebrations will begin at 7:00 pm with free watermelon at the Lakeview Pavilion served by the Round Rock City Council and the Parks & Recreation Department. Skydivers will fly into the festivities before guests enjoy music from the Austin Symphonic Band. The HEB fireworks display will begin after dark with continued accompaniment from the Austin Symphonic Band. Fireworks show will be synced with the Round Rock Express fireworks show simultaneously and will begin after the Express game. Immediately following the fireworks, there will be a showing of The Amazing Spiderman as part of the Movies in the Park summer series.

As always, entry into the festival is free. A wide variety of food vendors will be available for your enjoyment and refreshment (don’t forget the water!) and a ticket booth will be set up outside the carnival area for your convenience.

This event is made possible by the following organizations: HEB, KASE 101, FOX 7 News, Randall’s Market, and Spirit 105.9. The event schedule is subject to change. Visit www.roundrockfrontierdays.com for more information. For the safety of all guests, no pets are permitted at the celebration.
