Life Fitness Brings Beauty to Benches and Racks
Schiller Park, Ill.—“Beautiful” isn’t a word often heard to describe the typical free-weight area, but the new Signature Series Benches and Racks from Life Fitness are just that. The new products feature high-end design for fitness center managers who look to bring sleek styling, performance and the ability to create a cohesive look and feel to fitness-floor configurations.
“Facility center managers have told us that well-designed, attractive equipment appeals to people who’ve never stepped into a strength-training area before,” said Matt Brennand, senior product manager for Life Fitness. “This variety of visually coordinated products helps us meet that demand.”
The new Signature Series Benches and Racks deliver the performance features experienced free-weight users expect from Life Fitness. The large, flat oval tubing ensures structural stability to meet high-performance needs with a design that’s inviting for first-time users. Exercisers also have an easier time getting into a correct, comfortable position because of the products’ ergonomically sound designs. In addition, the Molded Urethane
Protective Racking System reduces vibration and clanking when racking weights.
Beautifully tough to accommodate frequent use, fitness center managers and staff also will enjoy the urethane bar supports, which guard against wear and tear from metal-on-metal contact; molded paint guards, which prevent chipping at key contact points; and rubber feet, which protect flooring. An integrated labeling system for plate and dumbbell storage helps fitness centers keep weights organized.

Tick & Pest Deterrents
Shawnee, Kan.—Bayer Animal Health reminds pet owners now is the time to consider their options for protecting both themselves and their pets from the discomfort and disease that can be caused by fleas, ticks and mosquitoes.
For dogs residing in rural or suburban settings, or those accompanying their owners in outdoor activities, such as hunting or camping, “the big three”–fleas, ticks and mosquitoes–may pose serious threats. They can lead to a host of Canine Vector Borne Diseases (CVBD), such as ehrlichiosis, Lyme disease, heartworm disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Humans need to be careful as well.
In its publication, “What campers, hikers, hunters, and people working outdoors should know,” The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends the use of repellants to protect humans. The CDC states, “Apply repellants to discourage tick attachment. Repellents containing permethrin can be sprayed on boots and clothing, and will last for several days. Repellents containing DEET (n, n-diethyl-m-toluamide) can be applied to the skin, but will last only a few hours before reapplication is necessary.”1
For dogs, K9 Advantix® from Bayer Animal Health is a once-a-month topical flea, tick and mosquito treatment that contains permethrin and imidacloprid. K9 Advantix repels and kills fleas, ticks and mosquitoes on dogs and puppies seven weeks of age and older. K9 Advantix is not for use on cats.
