Keller Elected Fellow

Denton (UNT), Texas– M. Jean Keller, professor of kinesiology, health promotion and recreational studies and interim vice president for community engagement at the University of North Texas, has been elected as a fellow of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration. As a fellow, Keller will contribute to the academy’s goals through conducting research, publishing scholarly papers and sponsoring seminars related to the advancement of public parks and recreation administration.

As a national nonprofit organization, AAPRA strives to advance the knowledge of recreation for practitioners and educators, and promote a broader public understanding of why parks, recreation and conservation are important for the public good.

Keller most recently has served as the acting dean of the Frank W. and Sue Mayborn School of Journalism and deputy vice chancellor of the UNT Dallas campus. She also has served as the dean of College of Education from August 1997 to August 2008 and the college’s associate dean of academic affairs from September 1993 to July 1997. She has been a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation since 1989 and mentored students through the McNair Scholars and Emerald Eagle Scholars Programs.
