Explore Revenue Opportunities

To raise funds and promote the Winchester Parks & Recreation Department in Virginia, the 4th annual International Children’s Festival was held earlier this summer.

Children jumped, dashed, crawled, weaved, balanced, slipped and slid around the world as they tackled 10 country-focused obstacles:

1. Kangaroo Hop (Australia)

Jump, feet together, through all rings. Go back to the start of the obstacle if you miss a ring or hop on one foot through any or all rings.

2. Relay Savannah (Zimbabwe)

Take one animal at a time out of the basket and place it in the basket at the opposite end of the obstacle. Continue until all animals are placed in the basket at the end of the obstacle.

3. Leprechaun Step (Ireland)

Step in each gold tire. Go back to the start of the obstacle if any tires are missed.

4. Pyramid Crawl (Egypt)

Crawl under the ropes from beginning to end. If you come out from under the ropes or stand up, you will have to start the obstacle again.

5. Olympic Javelin Throw (Greece)

Throw javelin from designated spot through one Olympic ring. If javelin misses and does not go through a ring, pick up the javelin and try again from where it landed. Keep trying until successful.

6. Show Jumping (England)

Leap over the jumps without knocking any over. For every jump that is knocked down, one second will be added to your overall time.

7. Pepperoni Toss (Italy)

Throw your pepperoni frisbee onto the pizza from the designated spot. If your pepperoni misses, pick it up and throw it from where it landed. Keep trying until successful.

8. World Cup Soccer Drill (Mexico)

Dribble the soccer ball in and out around every cone. If you miss a cone, go back to the missed cone and try again.

9. Great Wall Journey (China)

Start at the beginning of the first plank and continue to the end without stepping off. Go back to the start of the obstacle and begin again if you step off a board.

10. Rainforest Mud Challenge (Puerto Rico)

Enter the mud pit at the start of the obstacle and continue under the ropes to the end. If you get out of the mud pit at any time, you must start over at the beginning.
