The community center is a one-stop facility featuring workout facilities, a gymnasium, an aquatics area with lap and leisure pools, a family lounge, a chapel/performing arts facility, an outdoor amphitheater, a teen room, short-term child watch and a licensed daycare facility. The project is seeking LEED Silver certification for sustainable design and energy efficiency.
Facility highlights include a Corps worship theater with 300 seats, designed as a small performing arts venue; family lounge, child watch, children’s indoor playground, and game area; two-court gym, weight and fitness center, exercise rooms, climbing wall, locker rooms and party rooms; 10-lane competitive pool, Oregon-coast themed indoor leisure pool with current channel, water slides and interactive play features, spas and sprayground.

The Miramar Family Services Department wanted to create a playground on the east end of Mills Park that would meet the needs of both children with special needs as well as able-bodied kids. They consulted with Innovative Playgrounds, the local BCI Burke representative in California, and came up with the perfect plan that would provide ample play opportunities including ramps, accessible panels, freestanding music panels, benches, tables, and trash receptacles. Planners also emphasized the need for shade canopies, safety surfacing and fencing.

The new student recreation center will house an urgent-care clinic, pharmacy, lab services, four basketball courts, an indoor track and cardio and free-weight space. Meets LEED certification standards; sustainable features include 11 Big Ass Fans, natural lighting and the use of recycled materials in the walls and floors.
