Round Rock Inline Skate Marathon

The City of Round Rock, Texas, will host the 9th Annual Texas Road Rash Inline Skate Marathon and Half Marathon this weekend.

Inline skaters take on the Texas Road Rash marathon.

Elimination races will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21 and the Marathon and Half Marathon will start at 8 a.m. Sunday, April 22.

The races will begin in Round Rock’s Old Settlers Park and the Dell Diamond parking lot complex.

Texas Road Rash is an opportunity for skaters at all levels to celebrate inline skating as Round Rock hosts one of only two inline skate marathons in the state. The looped course makes it possible for skaters at any comfort level to enjoy the event.

Skaters can select a category and skate with others at their skating level: Pro (Elite Skaters); Pro Masters (Elite Skaters age 35+); Open/Untimed.

World Champion skaters Joey Mantia, Harry Vogal and Michael Cheeks will skate at this year’s event!

The Texas Road Rash was recognized by City Sports Texas as the best inline skate in Texas and improved their ranking from eighth to third best inline skate marathon in the nation in 2011 by

“We’re proud of the buzz in the inline skate community about the Texas Road Rash,” stated Rick Atkins, Director of Parks & Recreation for the City of Round Rock.

“The event has been quite successful attracting inline skaters from across the nation and we’re proud to showcase our exceptional parks here in Round Rock.”

All registrants will receive a short-sleeved T-shirt and packet goodies, and are eligible for door prizes at the event. After the race, guests will enjoy Texas-style hospitality with race day activities including complimentary drinks, fruit and the Taste of Texas at the finish line with a barbecue lunch.

Participants compete for cheese grater trophies presented for the following categories:

Pro – Overall 1st-5th;

Pro Masters – Overall 1st-3rd;

Open/Untimed – Each Age Division 1st-3rd.

The Overall male and female winner in each category will receive an official Texas Road Rash PyroApparel Windbreaker.

To keep “Road Rash” at a minimum, safety is a priority. Helmets and wrist guards are mandatory. Knee and elbow pads are recommended. Inline skates and quads only. No roller skis, ski poles, skateboards, strollers, bandits, bikes, automobiles, or pets. Headphone use is prohibited.
