FRIDAY NIGHT FAMILY HAYRIDE AND CAMPFIRE SERIES

T.Y. (Topeekeegee Yugnee) Park (Hollywood)

For all ages

7 to 9:30 p.m.

Hayride: $3.50/person ages 3 and up for one hayride and one bag of s’mores.

Enjoy a hayride around the park and a marshmallow roast around a campfire. Campfire and optional hayride take place across from the park office. Groups of 15 or more persons should call the park for reservations. Advance tickets are required and can be purchased at the park office or by phone at 954-357-8811. Accessible from Broward County Transit Routes #3, #12, and #17.

FRIDAY NIGHT SOCIAL

Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park (Hollywood)

For adults Mental Health Consumers

7 to 9:30 p.m.

Free.

DISABILITIES EXPO

Nova Southeastern University (Davie)

For all ages

10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free.

This expo will provide an opportunity to gain information about services, resources, and products for persons with various disabilities. Activities will include more than 60 exhibitors, seminars, an art exhibition, wheelchair basketball, children’s activities, Disabilities Awards Ceremony, and much more. ECOACTION DAY

Miramar Pineland (Miramar)

For ages 13 and up Parental signature required for those under 18.

9 a.m. to noon

Free. The park’s regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect.

Volunteers can clean up trash, plant native plants, and/or remove non-native invasive plants. Students can earn community service hours for graduation and college scholarships, and others can help improve and preserve the environment. Volunteers should dress appropriately with long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes that can get dirty. Participants should bring gloves, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and drinking water. Extra tools such as shovels, rakes, and hand pruners are welcome. A volunteer form must be filled out in order to participate. For more information, call the park at 954-357-8776.

GOLD COAST GUNSLINGERS

The Target Range at Markham Park (Sunrise)

For ages 10 and up

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

$15/person. The park’s regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect.

GUIDED NATURE WALK

Secret Woods Nature Center (Dania Beach)

For all ages

9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Free.

A naturalist-led walk at the nature center. Please call for details and preregistration. For more information, call the nature center at 954-357-8884. Accessible from Broward County Transit Route #6.

PET RABIES CLINIC

T.Y. (Topeekeegee Yugnee) Park (Hollywood)

For all ages

9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

$15 cash for one year rabies vaccination and Broward County tag. Broward County residents only. The park’s regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect.

Low cost pet rabies vaccinations. No appointments necessary and customers are taken on a first-come, first served basis. All dogs must be on leashes and all cats must be in carriers. For more information, contact the park at 954-357-8811. Accessible from Broward County Transit Routes #3, #12, and #17.

PUBLIC WORKDAY

Fern Forest Nature Center (Coconut Creek)

For all ages

9 a.m. to noon

Free.

Volunteer opportunity to help remove exotic invasive plants and/or plant native plants. For more information, contact the park at 954-357-5198. Accessible from Broward County Transit Routes #31 and #42.

WEBELOS WORKSHOP: FORESTER BADGE

9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

$8 per person.

Webelos can work on a forester badge. Preregistration and prepayment are required. For more information, call the nature center at 954-357-5161. Accessible from Broward County Transit Route #12.

K9 SPLASH DAYS

$5 per dog for each 50 minute session, limit two sessions. The last session begins at 4 p.m. and is for dogs 25 lbs. and under. The park’s regular weekend and holiday gate entrance fee of $1.50/person (children 5 and under free) will be in effect.
