The Synthetic Turf Council is expanding its membership options.
For the first time, the council is opening up membership to indivduals, through its affiliates category.
Affiliate members will be able to attend council meetings and participate on committees and task forces, but will not have voting rights.
“We are striving to give voice to all those in the synthetic turf industry and now consumers,” said Rick Doyle, council president.
“Hearing from buyers like athletic directors and municipal officials, as well as academics and students, is important as usage continues to grow throughout North America.”
Annual dues for coaches, athletic directors, parks and recreation department experts, municipal officials and active military will be $75.
University or school professors, teachers and researchers would pay $50.
And students’ annual dues would be $25.
The council has also created new membership categories, with full voting rights, for three key business sectors:
• Landscape architects, engineers and synthetic turf consultants
• Sub-base contractors
• Regional lawn and leisure installation companies
More than 215 people from 137 companies attended the Synthetic Turf Council’s Spring Membership Meeting in March. It was the largest gathering of the synthetic turf industry ever in North America.
Based in Atlanta, the non-profit council was founded in 2003 to promote the industry and to assist buyers and end users with the selection, use and maintenance of synthetic turf systems.
