This summer, YMCA Camp Elphinstone campers and staff in session on August 7 were asked to participate in a video project funded through the YMCA Innovation Fund.
The YMCA Innovation Fund supports projects that create or enhance programs, create engagement in the community, or help improve the YMCA in an innovative way.
The YMCA Camp Elphinstone Team received funding to complete a lip dub video, engaging campers, staff, and alumni in a fun and interactive way to showcase camp as a fun, active environment for kids.
Although making the video was an extremely fun and rewarding project, the underlying goal was to increase awareness of YMCA Camp programs and the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign.
Through donations from our generous donors and volunteers, we sent over 400 campers from low-income families to Summer Camp in 2012. Without the support of the YMCA of Greater Vancouver Strong Kids Fund, these campers, which make up approximately 25 percent of our total summer registration, would not have had the opportunity to participate in an outdoor camp experience and build friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.
