MV Sport Is Powered By The Sun
MV Sport/Weatherproof, a supplier of custom decorated apparel based in Bay Shore, NY, announced that it is installing a large solar panel system that will generate most of the company’s electrical needs.
Nearly 5,000 photovoltaic cells will convert the sun’s rays into over 1.4-million kilowatt hours of electricity in one year. According to Josh Peyser, MV Sport/Weatherproof’s president, solar power will generate more than 90 percent of MV Sport’s annual power usage.
“MV Sport/Weatherproof is making a multi-million dollar investment in sustainable, clean solar power. The environmental impact will be significant—a reduction of 2-million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions,” Peyser says. To put that in perspective, the clean energy generated is the equivalent of recycling 40-million soda cans or planting 150,000 trees or saving 105,000 gallons of gasoline.
Waves Carry Ocean Cure Message
Hats off to Ocean Cure—a non-profit organization that offers medically fragile and at-risk youth and adults a safe way to experience the ocean and take part in activities they may not try otherwise. Kevin Murphy, one of the founders of the organization, says the whole idea started more than six years ago after he volunteered to assist in a similar project for one day. That day, he says, left him in awe and inspired him to pass it on to others. Ocean Cure has since grown to empower wounded veterans, hearing impaired, autistic and other individuals to try ocean-related activities. For more information, visit www.oceancureinc.com.
