Seeking Your Most Creative Programming Ideas

Do you have a favorite game or program you would like to share with the rest of the camp world? Camp Business would like to hear from you!

Our January/February 2014 issue will feature the top programming ideas submitted by our readers. The deadline for submissions is October 4.

What kinds of programming are we looking for? Anything that adds a little zest to camp days–camp songs, games, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, relay races and anything else that makes a camper say, “I want to come back here next year! This is really fun!”

Submissions can be one sentence or 10 paragraphs–as much as you need to explain your program. Be sure to include your name, the name of the camp, city and state. Please be sure to send photos along with photo credits (whether it’s a specific person, or a general credit to the camp, we like to give credit where it’s due).

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Christine Schaffran, Editor, at editor@northstarpubs.com. Otherwise, we look forward to hearing about what makes your camp magical!

At North Bend Park in Boydton, Virginia on John H Kerr Reservoir an annual tradition has started for Memorial Day weekend. The park is lucky enough to have park rangers with musical talent. On Memorial weekend Saturday rangers gather to sing folk songs and close the evening with a flag retirement ceremony. All of the campers are invited as well as the local public, and any veterans in the audience are asked to come on stage and help with the closing ceremony. Many visitors have enjoyed the program so much they want to see it more than once a year, so they have considered performing it for the 4th of July holiday as well.
