Conference Aims To Help Stop Bullying

As camp directors, you want to do your very best to protect kids from bullying.

A two-day conference at Miami University in Ohio offers strategies to counteract and prevent bullying.

Keeping Kids SAFE: Bullying will be held June 10 and 11 at the Voice of America Learning Center in West Chester.

This anti-bullying/cyberbullying conference will feature nationally recognized keynote speakers and experts from across the state of Ohio who will present breakout sessions regarding the latest research findings, assessment tools, prevention and intervention strategies, legislative updates, and other special topics related to bullying and cyberbullying.

Conference participants will gain valuable insight into the role that bullying behavior (and other forms of aggressive behavior) play in the lives of children.

While designed to address the professional development needs of educators, administrators, law enforcement, and school-based health and mental health staff, the conference would also be helpful for camp staff.

The conference goals include awareness-raising, knowledge development and skillbuilding surrounding critical bullying and cyberbullying issues.

Speakers will include Kevin Jennings, U.S. assistant deputy secretary of education; Dr. Patti Agaston, an expert on cyberbullying; and Stan Davis of the Youth Voice Project
