Advertiser Testimonials

Dear Rodney,

This letter has been long overdue. Our firm is so appreciative of your
advertising support for our specialized firm. When we began to penetrate the park market in 2003, we did not have an advertising department or the funds to launch a national advertising program. Your support service, assisting us with our layouts and ad creation, allowed us to enter this century and become a national presence. As our firm grew, our advertising expenditures also grew. Your publication received the bulk of our budget to reach the park and recreation professionals who count.

What is most remarkable was the number of telephone calls we received versus the traditional reader service inquiry cards. Your publication has met our needs beyond expectations. We will be with you as long as you continue to serve our market.

Sincerely,

Reader Testimonials

Rodney,

As I was clearing off my desk before leaving for Cleveland and the OPRA conference, I just wanted to take a minute to comment on the February 2007 issue of Parks & Rec Business.

I found no fewer than five articles fascinating and very helpful. Several of these will be distributed to our board and staff. Keep up the great work.

Regards,

Ken Katafias, CPRP

Luck or Destiny?

Rodney,

Many thanks for the article, “Nature Center Programming,” by Dr. Karen Shragg in the October 2006 issue of Parks & Rec Business. It caught my attention since the City of Port Aransas, Texas, is developing a 2,000-acre nature preserve along the Gulf Coast.

I sent Dr. Shragg an e-mail requesting more information, and she replied with an invitation to call and discuss programming at the center she manages. I phoned that day, and we chatted about those programs. The conversation concluded with an invitation to visit the center should I ever be in the area, and I mentioned I did have an old friend in Minneapolis.

That comment led to the inevitable, “Who might that be?” (… and what are the chances? …) David is the one person I know in Minneapolis, and he had just called Dr. Shragg three days before to invite her to join the opera subscription program. The newly found common friendship prompted a weekend trip to Minneapolis from Corpus Christi, Texas, to: Visit David and tour seven nature centers in two days with Karen.

The offshoot of that trip to Minneapolis was inviting Karen to discuss her experiences with nature/visitor centers with my two parks and recreation boards in Port Aransas as we begin the design and construction phase of the Port Aransas Nature Preserve.

Was it luck or destiny? Thanks to Park & Rec Business--it could be either, or both.

Sincerely,

Gary Mysorski
